CENTRAL
NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Central neighbourhood is in the heart of Ward 2 in Hamilton. A foundational site of much of the city’s early architecture and industry, the Central neighbourhood remains home to many of Hamilton’s beloved buildings, landmarks, and institutions including the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, the Hamilton Farmer’s Market, James Street North, Central Park, and the Hamilton Downtown Mosque.
The borders of the Central neighbourhood are CN Rail Line (North), James Street North (East), Main Street West (South), and Queen Street North (West).
Central is home to the on-hiatus Jamesville Hub, the growing Central Neighbourhood Association, the King West Business Improvement Area (BIA), and the Downtown BIA.
