CORKTOWN
NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Corktown neighbourhood is named for the many Irish immigrants who called it home when Hamilton was first settling. It continues to be a diverse place where new Hamiltonians have come to find community. Corktown is also noted for an abundance and diversity of housing. Corktown is home to Shamrock and Corktown Parks which have become vital gathering spaces for its residents and the main Hamilton GO Station, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the Downtown Family YMCA.
The borders of the Corktown neighbourhood are Main Street East (North), Wellington Street South (East), Niagara Escarpment (South), and James Street South (West).
Corktown is home to the longstanding Corktown Neighbourhood Association, the International Village Business Improvement Area (BIA), and the Downtown BIA.
