DURAND
NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Durand neighbourhood is named for one of Hamilton’s founders and is the seat of City Hall. It’s one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in Ward 2 with the largest number of both heritage houses and apartment buildings. Locals love visiting Durand Park and using the dedicated cycling infrastructure on Charlton, Herkimer, and Bay Streets.
The borders of the Durand neighbourhood are Main Street West (North), James Street South (East), Niagara Escarpment (South), and Queen Street South (West).
Durand has been home to the Durand Neighbourhood Assocation since the early 70s. The DNA, as its affectionately known, is one of Canada’s first neighbourhood associations. Durand is also the home of the Downtown BIA.
