Hamilton Historical Board (HHB)
This archive is meant to host the various publications of the Hamilton Historical Board (HHB). At present that includes some issues of historiCITY and all 15 Ward Fact Sheets. We’re currently attempting to complete the historiCITY archives and find other information that was made available through the HHB before its dissolution in 2015.
The HHB was formed in 1973 as a subcommittee of the City Parks & Recreation Committee and was mandated to oversee the operation of the Dundurn National Historic Site.
According to information from its 2015 website, “The Mission of the Hamilton Historical Board [was] to advise City Council on heritage matters, and to promote the awareness and appreciation of Hamilton’s history and heritage through presentation”.
The HHB was active from 1973 until 2015 when it was dissolved by City Council at its July 10, 2015 meeting. Its budget and primary operations were subsumed at a December 1, 2015 City Council meeting into the City’s Tourism and Culture division and its secondary operations were taken up by the Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee.
