Steel Cut Queer (2013-2015)
From Steel Cut Queer’s original website –
“Based in Hamilton, Ontario, we are a resident-driven organization with two components: 1. We compile and publish a zine bi-monthly. 2. We run social events, parties, and education-directed panels and workshops. We identify as queer, sex-positive, and feminist as well as enthusiastic Hamiltonians. We’re also pretty punk.”
Steel Cut Queer (SCQ) is mostly known for the 2 zines it published in September 2013 and April 2014 but it was also an organization that produced other materials, held events, and created space for 2SLGBTQIA+ Hamiltonians while it was active. Check out SCQ’s inactive Twitter account or their original website (still available through the Wayback Machine) to get a sense of the work they were doing from 2013 to 2015 in Hamilton.
